The Sacrament of Confirmation is one of the three Sacraments of Initiation and is the way God pours out his strength and wisdom to us. For this reason, you are encouraged to be fully initiated into the Catholic Church prior to receiving the sacrament of marriage. In this way, you are equipped with God's grace for unity.  It is a requirement when becoming a Catholic Godparent.
